Utilizing a Nutrient Database and Assessing Patients at Risk for Type 2 Diabetes in Michigan

Project Description:
This project evaluated patient records in low socioeconomic status populations in Alpena, Ingham, Saginaw, and Upper Peninsula counties for patients at risk for Type II diabetes. The project seeks to assess the need for follow-up studies on Type II diabetes in these populations.

Diabetes centers were contacted and linkages have been made with five centers to determine prevalence in a diagnosed population at pediatric and endocrinology clinics. In add

 

Recent Developments:
Completing the data collection in family practice clinics. The project is finalizing linkages in Native American clinics to satisfy sample size in the population.
